Chocolate Baroque: Flowering Heart

Hello everyone. I'm back to share with you another project. Today it's all about the Flowering Baroque Heart single clear stamp by Chocolate Baroque. I had planned a simple card with a shabby feminine look inspired by an old hand embroidered pillow neatly stored away in my mother's attic. My great grandmother made it way back in the early 1920s ... almost 100 years ago!

How To:
  1. Stamp the the Flowering Baroque Heart image on to kraft cardstock using Ranger Glacier White Pigment Ink
  2. When completely dry, colour in with Faber Castell Polychromos.
  3. Cut out image with heart shaped die and ink the edges with Vintage Photo.
  4. Prepare background using patchwork technique and ink the edges with Antique Linen.
  5. Cut out heart shape using same die as in #3 above and inlay the focal image.
  6. Finish with lace and Petal Pink Liquid Pearls.
Here's a closer look at the Flowering Baroque Heart. I decided to inlay the heart in keeping with the original design. The extra bit of work makes a change from the usual mounting-on-foam tape method.
Challenges:
Inspiration Destination #87: AG
Word Art Wednesday #232 & 233: AG Inspirational
Crafty Gals Corner #73: AG
Creative Moments #94: AG (no twist)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: AG

So that's all from me for today. I'm all caught up with my DT projects... finally! You'll find more inspiration for this gorgeous stamp over at the Chocolate Baroque Design Team Blog. Don't forget to check it out.

I'll leave you wth some photos from my recent trip to Holland. We went all the way north to a quaint little village called Nieuw Weerdinge, very close to the German border. And there I stumbled upon (ok... it was a carefully contrived stumble) a lovely little (and I mean pixie house tiny) craft shop called Bianca's Toko. This magical little place is packed to the rafters with all kinds of crafty goodies. And not least amongst them: Chocolate Baroque!!! Be still my heart! Here are some photos:
Recognise any of these?
I had some of my cards with me. We had been invited to a few dinners and brought a few cards along with me to say thank you. So I whipped them out for a side-by-side photo shoot:
Cracklin' Rose ...
Flora Musica ...
Springtime Edges ...
and Briar Rose Butterfly.
That's me in front of the shop ... and yes, I shopped!
We were on hubby's motorbike - it was a 300km round trip. So worth it... despite my sore bottom! :)  The Dutch countryside in spring is simply amazing. And I came away with more than I bargained for. Thank you Bianca of Bianca's Toko for a wonderful stop-over.

Have a  lovely day, friends!

Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #23

Hello, friends. Here's another one of those late catch-up posts from me. Welcome to another month of Chocolate Baroque inspired fun -  Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #23, which started last Wednesday on May 18th. We have a lovely colour swatch for you to use in your projects.  If you haven't played yet, now's the time to do so.

You can use any medium to create your projects: paints, inks, pencils, pens, stains, etc., as long as you stick to the colours from the colour swatch, using as much or as little of each colour as you wish.  You don't have to use Chocolate Baroque stamps to play along but if you do you will be entered into a random draw to win £15 to spend on Chocolate Baroque stamps. All participants will have a chance to be on the Design Team's Top Three list and proudly display winner's badge on their blog.

There's something magical and mythical about this colour combo but I wanted to make a fun and funky card. So, the Sketchy Doodle Flowers stamps and my Distress Inks came together to make this footloose floral number:

Here's a closer look at the card. The colouring is light and not fussy. And I added lots sequins to add sparkle and texture.
Challenges:
Craft Your Passion #313: AG
Make My Monday: In The Garden
Artistic Inspiration #157: AG + Twist: Flowers
Crafting From The Heart #113: AG
Avenue 613: AG + Optional Twist (A2 + Thinking of You + Watercolour + Sequins)

Challenge #23 will close at 12.00 p.m. (UK) on Tuesday 14th June 2016, and the winner will be announced on Wednesday 22nd June 2016. I hope you'll play along and run the risk of winning £15 to spend on Chocolate Baroque stamps.

Thank you for all your encouraging comments. I'll see you again tomorrow for 2 more projects... I'll be on time!

MHKDesigns May / June Challenge

Hello, friends!  Welcome to our fifth MHKDesigns Challenge. This Challenge is all about keeping it simple and having fun while creating. Each each month you will get  a photo and colour swatch prompt. YOU decide which you're inspired by to create your work of art. It can be either or both. AND you are free to make what ever paper project you fancy - a card, scrapbook layout, a tag, a box, art journal page... you choose! The options are limitless.

The Design Team will be showcasing products from MHKDesigns Etsy Shop and we would love to see you use them too. However, you are free to use any products and enter the challenge to win some fabulous goodies by MHKDesigns. If you use stamps or papers by MHKDesigns you may ignore the Challenge prompt altogether; i.e. it's ANYTHING GOES for you!

Let's take a look at the Challenge prompt:

My project for this challenge features several elements from previously released sets. It showcases a lovely flower from Tulip of Thanks. I'm keeping the design fairly simple but adding interest with dimension. The sentiment is from Rainbow of Ribbons. The tiny polkadot paper is from Sunflower Sampler and this paper bundle is one of the prizes this month. The background papers is from a brand new pack called Glorious Garden which was released a couple of days ago.

Here's a closer look at the dimension on this card. So I went a bit overboard with the foam tape, but it adds a ton of interest to an otherwise simple card. I also curled the corners of the background paper.
Challenges:

The winner of this Challenge stands to win some fabulous products by MHKDesigns. So make sure you follow the challenge rules and you'll be eligible for the prize. And if you need a little creative boost, you'll find more inspiration by the rest of the Design Team over at the Challenge Blog. You have until June 15th to link up your project.

Thank you for stopping by today and I'm looking forward to seeing what you create for us this month.

Flamingo Together

Hello, friends! I did it - I treated myself to Lawn Fawn's new summer release. Nothing like a spot of retail therapy to lift the spirit. Yep... it felt good. I'm using the brand new Flamingo Together stamp and coordinating dies.

I inked the background with Distress Inks and used Stitched Hillside Borders dies to cut the sand dunes and sea. Thanks to glitter foam, we have super sparkly sea and sun. I also added little dots of Stardust Stickles in the sky.

Here's a closer look at the adorable flamingos. I coloured them with Copics and added lashings of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter in the birds and the palm trees.

Challenges:
Lawnscaping #130: Sparkle It Up
Fussy and Fancy #164: Dies and / or Punches

That's all from me today. Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow. Have a fabulous Friday!

Here's my clean and simple floral card using colour layering stamps by Hero Arts called For You Flowers. I'm linking this up for Sandie's 50th Birthday Blog Bash over at Kylie is Addicted to Stamps.

Here's a closer look. I used my MISTI to stamp the layers... even then I managed to get some green smudge on the flowers. That's what happens when I craft after midnight!

And I have missed a couple more DT posts and will catch up on those over the next couple of days. Luckily, I am surrounded by some truly amazing friends in the crafting world. Their support, love and words of encouragement - PRICELESS! Thank YOU so much!

Tuesday Throwdown #293: Thinking Of You

Good morning, friends! Time for a new theme over at Tuesday Throwdown Challenge and this week were are playing "Thinking Of You". Our sponsor for this challenge is Crafty Girl of Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet. I picked Flower Three digi, printed it 4 times, flipped a couple and arranged them to fill the card front.

The theme is Thinking Of You. I figured a birthday wish is one way of thinking of someone. The colours are warm and I finished the card with some lace given to me by my blog buddy Sandie.

I coloured the flowers with Faber Castell Polychromos, inked up the edges with Squeezed Lemonade. To finish a few droplets of Daffodil Liquid Pearls and teeny tiny green bling.

Chocolate Baroque: You Inspire Me

Hello friends! As most of you know, I'm dipping my toes in the mixed media kiddie pool. Here's another piece featuring Chocolate Baroque's new Flowering Baroque Heart clear stamp.

I created a mosaic-like background by sticking down little pieces of patterned papers. Then I knocked it back with a wash of watered down Folk Art Dove Grey acrylic paint. When completely dry, I gave it a coat of Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  Next I added some shading with Faber Castell PITT Brush Marker. I coloured a dollop of Ranger Texture Paste with a smidge of Mowed Lawn DI and added the leafy accents using TCW Mini Four Ferns stencil. After a coat of Ranger Multi Medium Matte over the leaves I added some shading with Faber Castell PITT Brush Marker. Next came splashes of watered down Faber Castell Gesso. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Words Of Inspiration with Ranger Archival Jet Black and mounted the focal image with foam tape.

I stamped the Flowering Baroque Heart on white card with VersaFine Onyx Black and coloured it with Faber Castell Polychromos. I finished it with some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter and Daffodil Liquid Pearl. Lastly, some highlights with a white gel pen to the flowers and sentiment to make them pop.
Challenges:
Eureka Stamps #192: April Showers Bring May Flowers
We Love To Create #10: AG Mixed Media
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: Stencil It
Use Your Stuff #222: Use Texture / Modelling Paste
Let's Colour Linky Party #9: AG + Something Coloured

I have to say, this has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I expected to be defeated by all the complicated techniques of mixed media. My ignorance helps with keeping it simple. What I've really learnt is that it's not difficult to fake it! I have no idea what I'm doing nor what I'm going to end up with, but so far I have been pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Perhaps I shall start an Art Journal.... not sure what that is but it sure sounds posh! :)

Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think. Comments and critiques are most welcome - it's the only way to learn and improve. The weather is still miserable here with endless icy cold rain. The heating is on, the winter woolies are out of storage. I'm told the sun has moved to the UK! That is SO not on. Please send it back! :)

Hello Foxy!

Good morning, friends. Hope the weekend is treating you well. It has been dire here: icy rain, miserably cold, wet and grey ... since Thursday!  Waaaaah!

On a more positive note, over the past fortnight or so I have been discovering the wonders of mixed-media. Still pretty clueless but it's been fun learning new techniques and applying them for my regular my card making.

Today's tag is inspired by Susan Wuthrich's project for Tag You're It Challenge #46.  I CASEd the scene on Susan's adorable tag. But I switched it up by making it a clandestine meeting by the garden wall between two critters.

And Lawn Fawn makes the cutest critters. The lovestruck frenchie is from Critters In The Dog Park, the demure Missy Fox is from Critters In The Forrest and the speech bubble is from Critters In Costume. This tag is going straight to Lawnscaping Challenge #129: Calling All Critters.

Here's a closer look at the wall. I used Tim Holtz Stencil, coloured Ranger Texture Paste with Rusty Hinge DI and applied it directly onto a tag cut with LF Tag You're It. I added extra shading to the wall with Faber Castell Pitt Brush markers.
Challenges:
Tag You're It #46: Inspired by Susan Wurthrich
Lawnscaping #129: Calling All Critters
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: Stencil It

That's all from me today. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I've got a project to show you tomorrow which I'm excited about. Until then, have a beautiful Sunday. And I sure hope the Sun is shining where you are!

MHKDesigns: Best Friends Fur-ever

Hello, friends! It's my turn to show and tell over at MHKDesigns Blog. This fun little number features an image and sentiment from Fur & Paws which was released in August 2015. It is still one of my favourite sets. You can find it over at MHKDesigns Etsy Store.

I made a masculine card with a travel theme using contrasting patterns - stripes, polkadots, plaid, craft calendar - and a faithful doggie looking forward to meeting up with his best bud. Minimal embellishments - some twine, a few die cut hearts and the card is done.

Here's a closer look at the handsome dog. The bow-tie detail is just too adorable! I applied Wink of Stella Clear Glitter and Glossy accents on the hearts.
Challenges:
Craft Dee Bowz May: AG + Handmade Bow
TTCRD May 3: AG
Crafting By Design: May AG
Inspiration Destination #84: AG
Brown Sugar #196: For the Boys

There you have it! A simple card with a masculine twist that will appeal to dog lovers. The inspiration for this card is from a recent photo I posted on Facebook. Friends, meet my best bud - the love-struck Charlie :D

That's all from me today. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Eclectic Ellapu May

Welcome to another Eclectic Ellapu challenge. For the month of May, the theme is everyone's favourite: ANYTHING GOES. That's right - let your creativity soar and make whatever project you fancy.

This is also the card I sent to Jutta M in BC, Canada for the April 2016 Card Chain Challenge. I made my card based on the theme - Friendship. The stamps and sentiment are from Friends Forever by Clearly Besotted. Still working on my CAS design - a painfully slow process for me - I kept this card as simple as possible. Watercolour, a few sequins and some Orchid Lawn Trimming by LF.

I heat embossed the image in white before water colouring. There's also a pale blue wash for the background.

Challenges:
Cute Car Thursday #423: No Patterned Paper
Amusing Challenge: AG
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: AG

Now it's your turn to create and link up your labour of love over at the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge Blog.  You can enter the challenge as many times as you wish, but make sure you link up your projects by 11:59pm UK on 31 May 2016.
